Philippines posts 1,326 new COVID-19 cases, lowest tally in 2 months


The Philippines on Tuesday registered 1,326 new COVID-19 infections, the lowest daily tally since July 6.

The new cases brought the nationwide tally to 3,894,840, based on the latest figures from the Department of Health (DOH).

According to the data, active cases also went down to 23,272 from 24,493 on Monday.

In the last two weeks, the National Capital Region (NCR) topped the regions with the highest number of cases with 9,025, followed by Calabarzon with 4,343, Central Luzon with 2,892, Western Visayas with 1,460, and the Davao Region with 1,427.

The country’s recovery tally increased by 2,432 cases to 3,809,450, while 56 new fatalities raised the death toll to 62,062.

Bed occupancy in the country stood at 27.2%, with 7,914 beds occupied, while 21,224 vacant as of Sunday, September 4.

A total of 17,756 individuals tested, while 331 testing labs submitted as of Monday, September 5. — BM, GMA News
