Philippines' 2,141 new COVID-19 cases push active tally to 24,843


The Philippines on Thursday logged 2,141 new coronavirus cases, bringing the nationwide tally to 3,913,536.

Based on the latest bulletin of the Health Department, the country’s active cases increased to 24,843 from Wednesday’s 24,139.

Total recoveries now stood at 3,826,246 while the death toll increased to 62,447 with 31 new fatalities.

Metro Manila recorded the highest number of infections in the last 14 days with 9,571. It was followed by Region IV-A with 3,797; Region III with 2,266; Region XI with 1,312 and Region VI with 1,047.

The country’s bed occupancy remains at low risk with 27.5 percent. It means of the total 28,646 hospital beds nationwide, 7,876 are occupied while 20,770 remains vacant.

Around 20,058 individuals tested for COVID-19 on Wednesday, September 14. A total of 333 testing labs submitted their results.—LDF, GMA News
