CIDG nabs 4 Chinese, 1 Pinoy for alleged P2-million kidnap-for-ransom in Pasay

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested four Chinese and a Filipino in an anti-kidnapping operation in Pasay City and Parañaque City on Thursday.

According to the CIDG, the suspects were identified as members of the Zi criminal group that engaged in kidnapping, abduction, and illegal detention in the southern part of Metro Manila.

The suspects are now under the custody of CIDG for temporary detention while raps for kidnapping and serious illegal detention; robbery and extortion; and for violation of firearms laws are being prepared.

They were arrested after complainant Jerry Go, a Chinese, reported the alleged abduction of his friend Amy Dan Li in Pasay City on Wednesday.

According to the complainant, the suspects called him and allegedly demanded P2 million in exchange for the victim's release.

At 4 p.m. on Thursday, one of the Chinese suspects and the Filipino were arrested in Pasay. The victim was found and rescued in a van used by the suspects, the CIDG said.

Recovered from the scene were a 45 caliber pistol and P2 million entrapment money.

At 7 p.m. on the same day, the three remaining suspects were arrested in an operation in a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) office in Parañaque City.

The suspects were positively identified by the victim. —NB, GMA News
