MIAA apologizes for power outage affecting several flights
The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) apologizes to Terminal 3 passengers and other airport stakeholders for the inconvenience caused by a power interruption that began at about 11 p.m. Friday and ended early morning Saturday.
In a press release, the MIAA said the power outage disrupted airport operations as the airlines had to resort to manual check-in and loading of baggage while processing of passengers at immigration took longer than usual.
Likewise, it said that the management, together with Meralco, conducted a joint probe to determine the cause of the problem which was traced to the Terminal 3 power substation.
As of 6 a.m. Saturday, the electric power in all areas of the Terminal has been restored.
16 international and 15 domestic flights were affected by the incident.
DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista and MIAA General Manager Cesar Chiong who were in the Terminal early morning today, said that action is now being undertaken to prevent recurrence of the incident.
