Philippines records 2,378 new COVID-19 cases; active tally climbs to 30,056


The Philippines on Friday recorded 2,378 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the nationwide tally to 3,932,155.

This was a lower than the 2,702 cases recorded on Thursday, based on the latest figures from the Department of Health (DOH).

The new cases also bring the active tally to 30,056, which is an increase from 28,030 on Thursday.

In the recent two weeks, the National Capital Region (NCR) reported highest infections with 12,641; followed by Calabarzon with 4,523; Central Luzon with 2,560; Davao Region with 1,233; and Western Visayas with 881.

The DOH also reported 275 new recoveries pushing the recovery tally to 3,839,369.

Meanwhile, the country’s death toll also climbed to 62,730 with 35 new fatalities.

The data also showed at least 7,502 beds were occupied, while 21,256 were vacant as the bed occupancy in the country slightly decrease to 26.1% as of Wednesday, September 21.

The Health department said a total of 17,431 individuals were tested, while 338 testing labs submitted data as of Thursday, September 22.—AOL, GMA News
