DOH posts 1,500 new COVID-19 cases, active tally down to 27,553


The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday registered 1,500 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the country’s caseload to 3,943,153.

This was the second day straight with fewer than 2,000 new cases.

Based on the DOH’s latest data, the active case tally went down to 27,553 from 38,315 on Tuesday.

The National Capital Region (NCR) reported the highest infections in the recent two weeks with 13,984 cases, followed by Calabarzon with 5,270, Central Luzon with 2,820, Davao Region with 1,332, and Western Visayas with 802.

The DOH, meanwhile, said the country’s recovery tally also climbed to 3,852,718 with 12,226 new recoveries.

At least 33 new fatalities were recorded as the death tally rose to 62,882.

The Health department said a total of 7,446 beds were occupied, while 21,210 were vacant as the bed occupancy in the country slightly increased to 26% as of Monday, September 26.

A total of 18,118 individuals were tested, while 336 testing labs submitted data as of Tuesday, September 27.—LDF, GMA News
