Philippines logs 3,822 new COVID-19 cases; active tally hits 29,525


The Philippines' COVID-19 tally increased to 3,951,766 with 3,822 new cases reported on Saturday, according to the Department of Health. 

Saturday's COVID-19 tally came after two days of fewer than 3,000 new cases being recorded. 

Active cases climbed to 29,525 from 29,118 on Friday. 

The National Capital Region had the highest number of new infections in the past two weeks with 14,299, followed by Calabarzon with 5,634, Central Luzon with 2,958, Davao Region with 1,386, and Western Visayas with 763. 

Thirty-four new fatalities were recorded, pushing the death toll to 62,981, while the recovery tally jumped to 3,859,260 with 3,285 new recoveries. 

As of Friday, the national bed occupancy rate was 24.9%, with 7,171 beds occupied and 21,634 vacant. 

A total of 18,202 individuals were tested on Friday, while 334 testing laboratories submitted data. —VBL, GMA News
