Gilbert Remulla in ‘deep discernment’ after being considered as next press secretary

Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) director Gilbert Remulla on Wednesday said he was flattered that he was being considered to be the Marcos administration's next press secretary.

Remulla said that he was in the process of “deep discernment.”

"I'm in a process of deep discernment. However, I am at PAGCOR, enjoying and concentrating on my role here as director. I'm flattered I'm being considered and I serve at the pleasure of the President," Remulla said in a message.

Remulla is a former broadcast journalist and represented Cavite’s second district in Congress from 2001 to 2007. His siblings include Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla and Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla.

Earlier in the day, Transportation Undersecretary Cesar Chavez disclosed that aside from him, Remulla and lawyer Michael Toledo were being eyed to replace Trixie Cruz-Angeles, who resigned from her post on Tuesday due to health reasons.

Chavez said he was not interested in leading the Palace’s communications arm, although he had yet to make a final decision on the matter.

On Tuesday, Senior Deputy Executive Secretary Hubert Guevara expressed hope that a new press secretary would be named in the “near future.” — VBL, GMA News
