1,764 new COVID-19 cases recorded; active tally dips to 25,733


The Philippines on Wednesday recorded 1,764 new COVID-19 infections, while the tally of active infections went down to 25,733.

This is the third day straight of fewer than 2,000 new infections recorded.

The active cases went down by 1,059 cases from 26,792 on Tuesday, according to the Department of Health (DOH)’s data.

The DOH said the new cases also pushed the nationwide caseload to 3,958,786.

The top regions with the most infections in the past two weeks were the National Capital Region (NCR) with 13,756 cases, followed by Calabarzon with 5,717, Central Luzon with 2,896, Davao Region with 1,412, and Soccsksargen with 729.

The Health department said at least 2,700 new recoveries reported increases the country’s recovery tally to 3,869,942.

Meanwhile, the death toll rose to 63,111 with 33 new fatalities.

The nationwide bed occupancy stood at 25.4%, as the number of beds occupied were 7,316, and at least 21,469 were vacant as of Monday, October 3.

The DOH said at least 17,696 individuals were tested, while 336 testing laboratories submitted data on Tuesday, October 4. — Richa Noriega/BM, GMA News
