Marcos reappoints Ivan Uy as DICT chief

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has reappointed Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Ivan John Uy.

Marcos administered the oath of office to Uy on Thursday in Malacañang.

Philippine Ambassador to Israel Pedro Laylo Jr. and the officers of the Malacañang Press Corps also took their oath before Marcos.

Uy was among the officials whose appointments were bypassed by the Commission on Appointments as Congress adjourned for a five-week recess. Ten other Cabinet members were reappointed by the President.

The DICT chief has said he will prioritize giving internet connectivity to far-flung areas in the country in order for them to access medical services and improve the education system.

Uy also served as chairman of the now defunct Commission on Information and Communications Technology during the administration of the late President Benigno Aquino III. — VBL, GMA News
