DepEd lists achievements under Marcos admin's first 100 days
The Department of Education (DepEd) on Monday evening lists reopening face-to-face classes as part of its contribution to the first 100 days of the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
In a press statement, Vice President and concurrent DepEd Secretary Sara Duterte said the resumption of face-to-face classes in August was among the agency's wins, adding that they are continuously assessing the “institutionalization of blended learning and online classes in basic education”.
Duterte also said the new administration was able to “sustain the review of the K to Grade 10 program from the previous administration and is set to start reviews for Grades 11 and 12.”
She also said the government is focusing on the welfare of teachers with the approval from the Department of Budget and Management to create 5,000 administrative personnel positions for the year 2023 as well as the promised final tranche of the salary increase for teachers as provided under Republic Act No. 11466 that will be implemented next year.
“The DepEd, under the leadership of President Bongbong Marcos Jr. is committed to the goal for all Filipinos to realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to a cohesive nation through the protection and promotion of the right to education,” said Duterte.
Further, the Education Secretary said the administration adopted the Basic Education Development Plan 2030 (BEDP 2030) from its predecessor which adheres to its four pillars, namely: access, equity, quality and governance.
“BEDP 2030 is designed to address the immediate impacts of the pandemic on learning participation, and education delivery, address the remaining access gaps, improve education quality and build resilience,” Duterte added. -- BAP, GMA News
