K-pop star Joshua Hong says he was overcharged by taxi driver while on vacation in Philippines

A member of the K-pop group Seventeen has narrated how he was overcharged by a taxi driver while he was on vacation in the Philippines.

According to Oscar Oida’s report on “24 Oras”, Joshua Hong disclosed his experience during a live broadcast on the streaming channel Weverse.

Hong said the cabbie asked him to pay P1,000, only to find out later that it was more than three times than his supposed fare.

However, Hong still said Manila was “not a bad place” and that he only told his fans of the incident to warn others about it.

“Nakakalungkot at nakakahiya na rin, kaya naglabas tayo ng statement na ito ay mariin nating kinokondena,” Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board member Atty. Mercy Jane Paras-Leyes said.

“Hindi natin tinotolerate ‘yung ganitong mga overcharging o violations ng ating mga public utility vehicles, whether sa kababayan natin o dayuhan, turista,” she added.
