OCTA: NCR COVID-19 positivity rate drops to 17.3%

The seven-day COVID-19 positivity rate in the National Capital Region (NCR) declined further to 17.3% from the previous 19%, independent monitoring group OCTA Research said Wednesday.

OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David said on Twitter that NCR’s positivity rate decreased from 19% on October 3, to 17.3% on October 10.

Positivity rate refers to the percentage of people who were found positive for COVID-19 among the total number of individuals tested.

David said the NCR’s reproduction number also went down to 0.93 from 0.99 on October 6.

Reproduction rate refers to the number of people infected by one case. A reproduction number that is below 1 indicates that the transmission of the virus is slowing down.

NCR’s one-week growth rate was at -16%, while its healthcare utilization for COVID-19 patients was at 37%.

“Let’s hope the downward trend continues the rest of the year,” David said. —Giselle Ombay/KBK, GMA News
