DOH posts 1,623 new COVID-19 cases, active tally at 24,283


The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday said 1,623 new COVID-19 cases have been reported, while the tally of active cases has dipped to 24,283.

This was the second day straight of fewer than 2,000 new cases reported daily.

Based on the DOH’s latest data, the active case tally went down to 24,283 from 25,004 on Tuesday.

The latest data also showed that the nationwide COVID-19 tally is at 3,973,091.

The National Capital Region (NCR) remained the region with the most infections in the recent two weeks with 11,198 cases, followed by Calabarzon with 5,349, Central Luzon with 2,753, Davao Region with 1,431, and Western Visayas with 981.

The DOH said the nationwide recovery tally also climbed by 2,323 cases to 3,885,445.

Meanwhile, at least 34 new fatalities were logged as the death tally climbed to 63,363.

A total of 7,604 beds were occupied, while 20,966 were vacant as the bed occupancy in the country increased to 26.6% as of Monday, October 10.

At least 17,138 individuals were tested, while 338 testing labs submitted data as of Tuesday, October 11. — Richa Noriega/BM, GMA News
