Marcos says PPPs needed to aid start-ups, MSMEs

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has emphasized that public-private partnership is needed to support and help start-ups and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in growing their businesses.

Marcos raised this during a situation briefing of the Department of Trade and Industry-Western Visayas at the sidelines of his visit in the region for the MassKara Festival on Sunday.

He said DTI should come up with a system that will connect MSMEs and start-ups with private financiers and investors to help them sustain their businesses.

“We should be ready to bring our support one step further. There should be a support system to assist start-ups and our MSMEs by opening doors to new connections, get them to the digital world to help them connect with private companies for support,” the President said in a press release.

“Make people aware of these businesses kasi madaming magaganda so that we can find people to partner with them,” he added.

Earlier, Marcos called on the private sector to take part in building the nation, saying that a total of 74 public private partnerships (PPP) projects worth P2.25 trillion are underway.
