Marcos: Paul Soriano not part of 'PR machine'

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. clarified on Wednesday that film director Paul Soriano, who was appointed as Presidential Adviser for Creative Communications, would not be part of Malacañang's "PR machine."

Marcos told reporters that Soriano would push to improve the country's creative industry and promote the talents of Filipinos.

"'Yung kay Paul Soriano, people have misunderstood. He’s not there to be part of the PR machine. He’s there to find ways to promote the creative industry kasi doon siya galing," Marcos said.

(Regarding Paul Soriano, people have misunderstood. He’s not there to be part of the PR machine. He’s there to find ways to promote the creative industry since he’s part of it.)

"Kasama ‘yan sa tourism. Pinagmamalaki natin. Ang gagaling kumanta ng Pilipino. Ang gagaling umarte. Ang gagaling gumawa ng sine, et cetera, et cetera. We have to project that to the rest of the world. ‘Yan ang trabaho ni Paul," he added.

(That's included in tourism. We have to be proud of it. Filipinos are good at singing, acting, and creating films, et cetera. We have to project that to the rest of the world. That's Paul's job.)

Marcos earlier said Soriano had agreed to get a salary of P1 a year.

Soriano, who was behind Marcos' campaign advertisements in the last elections, had said it was an “absolute honor” to be given the opportunity to serve the country and the Marcos administration.
