DOH: Cholera cases in Philippines reach 3,980 from January to October 2022


Cholera cases nationwide have reached 3,980 in 2022 as of October 8, data from the Department of Health indicated.

The figure represents a 270% increase from the number of cholera cases in the country for the same period in 2021 when only 1,077 were recorded.

Data from from September 11 to October 8 showed that there were 245 cholera infections recorded across the country.

Based on the DOH’s national cholera surveillance data as of October 8, the region with the highest number of cholera cases during the same period was Eastern Visayas at 147 (60%).

This was followed by Western Visayas with 51 cases (21%), and Bicol Region with 26 cases (11%). —NB, GMA News
