DOH logs 1,370 new COVID-19 cases; active tally at 20,824


The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday recorded 1,370 new COVID-19 cases, increasing the total nationwide caseload to 4,003,459.

This is the second straight day that fewer than 1,500 new cases were recorded, with 1,391 infections tallied on Saturday.

Based on the DOH’s latest data, the country’s active cases decreased to 20,824 from 21,176 on Saturday. This is the twelfth straight day with fewer than 25,000 active infections.

The number of recoveries climbed to 3,918,602 while the death toll rose by 38 to 64,033.

According to the DOH, the regions with the most cases in the last two weeks were the National Capital Region with 5,401 followed by Calabarzon with 3,307 and Central Luzon with 1,935.

The Health Department said at least 9,964 individuals were tested, while 313 testing labs submitted data on October 29.

DOH also said that the bed occupancy in the country was 24.1%, with 6,783 beds occupied, while 21,367 were vacant. — Mel Matthew Doctor/BM, GMA News
