'Minor incidents' reported but Undas 2022 'generally peaceful' —Azurin

The observation of All Saints' Day has been generally peaceful despite some reported "minor" incidents, Philippine National Police chief Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr said Tuesday.

“Undas 2022, as the national observance of All Saints’ Day this year, was generally peaceful and orderly,” Azurin said in a statement Wednesday.

“Aside from minor incidents reported by different Police Regional Offices, no significant untoward incidents were monitored nationwide,” he added.

Among the incidents cited by Azurin in his statement was the case of a man who died of electrocution while at the cemetery in Mabalacat City, Pampanga.

Another was the arrest of one person for bringing a caliber .22 revolver firearm with two ammunition to a cemetery in Parañaque City.

Azurin said the PNP continues to monitor the situation in  cemeteries, memorial parks, and other places of convergence where people flocked even after All Saints' Day.

He added that policemen have been deployed to 6,047 public assistance desks in cemeteries and memorial parks as well as to public assistance centers in land, sea, and air transportation hubs for the expected influx of returning travelers. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
