Juanito Remulla attends prelim probe on drug raps

Juanito Remulla III, the son of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, on Wednesday attended the preliminary investigation on his drug-related cases at the Office of the Prosecutor in Pasay City.

Wearing a dark hoodie and sporting a baseball cap and dark eyeglasses, Juanito has been named respondent in a complaint regarding importation of dangerous drugs and for failure to exhibit or deposit documents under the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.

He was nabbed during a controlled delivery operation by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group at Talon Dos, Las Piñas, on October 11.

Authorities had seized a parcel containing suspected kush or high-grade marijuana worth P1.3 million during the operation.

The probe lasted for only about 20 minutes, according to Super Radyo dzBB reporter Sam Nielsen.

Juanito and his camp, meanwhile, maintained their silence when reporters tried to interview them after the preliminary investigation.

Juanito has been charged with possession of illegal drugs before the Las Piñas Regional Trial Court (RTC). It has been raffled off to RTC Branch 197 Judge Ricardo Moldez II.

Sec. Remulla has earlier said he will not intervene in his son's case.  —Joahna Lei Casilao/KBK, GMA News
