DOH logs 1,010 new COVID-19 cases; active tally drops to 16,615
The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday recorded 1,010 new COVID-19 cases, increasing the total nationwide caseload to 4,009,466.
This is the second straight day that over 1,000 new cases were recorded, with 1,229 new infections tallied on Saturday.
Last week, the department logged fewer than 1,000 new cases for four consecutive days.
Based on the DOH’s latest data, the country’s active cases decreased to 16,615 from 17,123 on Saturday. This is the lowest number of active infections after almost four months or since July 14's 16,244.
The number of recoveries climbed to 3,928,577 while the death toll rose by 34 to 64,274.
According to the DOH, the regions with the most cases in the last two weeks were the National Capital Region with 3,176 followed by Calabarzon with 1,968, and the Western Visayas with 1,333.
The Health Department said at least 11,557 individuals were tested, while 315 testing labs submitted data on November 5.
The bed occupancy in the country was at 24.5%, with 6,963 beds occupied, while 21,468 were vacant. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
