6.7 quake strikes off Fiji, no tsunami threat to Philippines —PHIVOLCS


A 6.7-magnitude earthquake struck south of the Fiji islands in the South Pacific on Wednesday, but there is no tsunami threat to the Philippines, PHIVOLCS reported.

According to the agency, the quake struck at 5:39 p.m. (Philippines time) at a depth of 653 kilometers.

"No destructive tsunami threat exists based on available data...there is no tsunami threat to the Philippines from this earthquake," PHIVOLCS said.
