GMA News Online reporter bags EJAP’s online business reporter of the year award

GMA News Online senior news producer, Jon Viktor Cabuenas, bagged the Online Business Reporter of the Year award at the 31st Economic Journalists Association of the Philippines (EJAP) Business Journalism Awards on Friday.

As business reporter, Cabuenas covers finance, macroeconomy, capital markets, and banking for the Money section of GMA News Online.

In her remarks, EJAP president Cai Ordinario said that this year’s business journalism awards “attracted a lot of entries even beyond the minimum entries required.”

“That just shows that EJAP members are not afraid to put themselves out there and are proud of the work that they have done,” Ordinario said.

Other winners in this year's EJAP Business Journalism Awards’ “Business Reporter of the Year” are Philippine Daily Inquirer’s (PDI) Karl Ocampo for agriculture reporter of the year; BusinessMirror’s Bianca Cuaresma for banking reporter of the year; BusinessMirror’s Lenie Lectura for energy reporter of the year; The Philippine Star’s Elijah Felice Rosales for finance reporter of the year; Malaya Business Insight’s Angela Celis-Mercurio for macroeconomy reporter of the year; BusinessMirror’s Tyrone Jasper Piad (now with PDI) for trade and industry reporter of the year; PDI's Miguel Camus for telco and transport reporter of the year; and PDI's Doris Dumlao-Abadilla for capital markets reporter of the year.

The "Business news source of the year" award was given to BusinessMirror for bagging the most number of awards. BusinessMirror’s Piad also bagged the “Business Feature of the Year.”
