Catapang: BuCor to implement technology-driven security system in Bilibid
The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) officer-in-charge Gregorio Catapang Jr. said Monday they will be implementing a technology-driven security system for the New Bilibid Prison.
In a press conference, Catapang said he will compensate the lack of personnel with K9 units and high-tech equipment such as facial recognition.
“High-tech equipment, facial recognition, ‘yung problema po na (the problem on) who will guard the guardians, the technology will guard the guardians,” he said.
“Parang ganito, katulad sa AFP, may command center. Lahat ng tao nagdu-duty, nakikita ko sila sa screen… quarter one, sino nag-duty diyan, quarter two, quarter three, quarter four,” he added.
?(Similar to the command center of the AFP. I can see on the screen everyone who is on duty… who is on duty in quarter one, in quarter two, quarter three, and quarter four.)
Catapang said there will be facial recognition for inmates.
“And, of course, pag operate, pati ‘yung inmates may facial recognition… dadaan sila doon sa facial recognition machine then they will be accounted for,” he said.
(And, of course, once operational, the inmates will also undergo the facial recognition machine then they will be accounted for.)
According to Catapang, the K9 units and their handlers have been on duty for four days already. He said they will be concentrated to gate four.
“Doon kasi lahat pumapasok ‘yung mga gamit, pagkain, lahat ‘yan. Ko-concentrate muna. Dadaan ‘yan sa K9, dadaan sa inspection through the technology,” he said.
(Because everything goes through there. Clothes, food, everything. So we will concentrate on it first. They will go through the K9 and inspection through technology.)
Meanwhile, Catapang said they already have a list of personnel who were involved in the entry of contrabands into the Bilibid, but they cannot divulge the information yet.
