TNVS groups protest oil price hike, looming commission rate increase
Several transport network vehicle service (TNVS) drivers and operators groups protested on Tuesday against the fresh hike in oil prices and the looming 2% increase in the commission rate of a transport network company next month.
According to Oscar Oida's report on "Balitanghali", Laban TNVS national president Jun de Leon said the increase in oil prices will further reduce their profit despite the recent P5 increase on their flag-down rates.
TNVS drivers earn around P400 per day even after working for 12 hours, De Leon added.
Further, the groups appealed to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board to regulate the commission rates of transport network companies and said they are currently preparing for a nationwide protest in December.
Asked about what will transpire during the strike, the groups said the TNVS drivers and operators will shut down their applications which, they said, could paralyze the transport network companies' transportation and delivery services. — Sundy Locus/BM, GMA Integrated News
