Philippines logs 1,141 new COVID-19 cases; active tally at 17,393


The Philippines on Thursday recorded 1,141 new COVID-19 infections, while the active tally increased to 17,393, according to the Department of Health.
 
The nationwide COVID-19 tally is now 4,029,201, as the number of active cases increased from 17,049 on Wednesday.
 
In the past two weeks, the National Capital Region had the highest number of new cases with 3,347. It was followed by Calabarzon with 1,908, Western Visayas with 1,378, Central Luzon with 1,084, and Central Visayas with 1,029.
 
The recovery tally climbed to 3,947,284 after 650 individuals defeated the viral disease.
 
Twenty new fatalities were recorded, pushing the country’s death toll to 64,524.
 
As of Wednesday, the national bed occupancy rate was 23.4%, with 6,635 occupied and 21,770 vacant beds.
 
A total of 13,243 individuals were tested on Wednesday, and 337 testing laboratories submitted data. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
