DOH: 1,874 new COVID-19 infections logged, active tally hits 18,348


The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday logged 1,874 new COVID-19 infections, while the active cases increased to 18,348.

This was the third day straight of more than 1,000 new infections recorded in a day.

Based on the DOH’s latest figures, the active cases increased from 17,945 recorded on Friday.

The DOH said the new infections pushed the nationwide tally to 4,032,326.

The National Capital Region (NCR) reported the highest infections in the recent two weeks with 3,418 cases recorded; followed by Calabarzon with 1,801; Western Visayas with 1,162; Central Luzon with 994; and Central Visayas with 982.

The Health department said the recovery tally increased to 3,949,407, while the death toll rose to 64,571.

Meanwhile, the country’s bed occupancy slightly increased to 23.6%, with 6,694 beds occupied while 21,718 were vacant as of Thursday, November 24.

A total of 12,087 individuals were tested, while 340 testing labs submitted data as of Friday, November 25. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
