DOH records 883 new COVID-19 infections; active cases down to 17,481


The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday recorded 883 new COVID-19 infections, while the tally of active cases went down to 17,481.

This came after five days straight of more than 1,000 COVID-19 new cases reported.

Meanwhile, the DOH said the active cases dropped from 17,907 on Monday.

The nationwide COVID-19 tally is now at 4,042,936, the Health department said.

In the past two weeks, the National Capital Region (NCR) remained the highest region with the most cases with 5,152. It was followed by Calabarzon with 2,041, Central Luzon with 1,061, Western Visayas with 932, and Central Visayas with 829.

The recovery tally increased to 3,960,685, while the death toll also climbed to 64,770.

The latest data also showed at least 6,662 beds were occupied, while 21,640 were vacant as the bed occupancy in the country stood at 23.5% as of Sunday, December 4.

A total of 12,329 individuals were tested, while 341 testing labs submitted data as of Monday, December 5. — Richa Noriega/BM, GMA Integrated News
