OCTA: Kalinga’s 7-day positivity rate increased to 57.9%


The seven-day positivity rate of COVID-19 cases in Kalinga has increased to 57.9% on December 10, which is higher compared to its previous record at 20.8% on December 3, the OCTA Research said on Monday.

Based on the chart shared by OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David on Twitter on Monday, Kalinga has the highest positivity rate among the provinces in Luzon and the National Capital Region (NCR). 

The positivity rate refers to the percentage of people who were found positive for COVID-19 among the total number of individuals tested.

Kalinga was followed by Nueva Ecija with 49.0% positivity rate, Isabela with 40.5%, Camarines Sur with 39.2%, and Ilocos Sur with 36.9%.

The NCR has a positivity rate of 14.4%, which is higher than its previous record at 12.4%.

OCTA Research extracted the data from the Department of Health's website.

In a separate tweet, OCTA said the NCR reported the highest number of positive cases in Luzon on Sunday, December 11, with 480 cases.  

It is followed by Cavite with 59 new cases, Laguna with 51, Rizal with 40, Cebu with 38, and Bulacan with 32, according to OCTA.

On Sunday, the Department of Health recorded 1,134 new COVID-19 cases, increasing the total nationwide caseload to 4,049,042.

The number of recoveries climbed to 3,965,910 while the death toll rose by 24 to 64,880. —Joviland Rita/KG, GMA Integrated News
