Philippines logs 791 new COVID-19 cases; active tally at 18,016


The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday registered 791 new COVID-19 cases, the lowest daily tally since November 23, when 703 infections were recorded.

This also came after six days of more than 1,000 COVID-19 infections being reported.
 
The active tally dipped to 18,016 from 18,355 on Monday as the nationwide caseload stood at 4,050,866.

The National Capital Region had the highest number of cases in the last two weeks with 5,594, followed by Calabarzon with 2,331; Central Luzon with 1,124; Cagayan Valley with 760; and Western Visayas with 738.
 
An additional 1,141 patients defeated the viral disease, bringing the recovery tally to 3,967,929.
 
The death toll also climbed to 64,921 with 19 new fatalities.

A total of 11,500 individuals were tested on Monday, and 337 testing laboratories submitted data.

As of Monday, the national bed occupancy rate was 23.8%, with 6,620 occupied and 21,205 vacant beds. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
