Bantag dares accusers to prove charges against him in Percy Lapid slay case

Suspended Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief Gerald Bantag dared his accusers to prove the charges against him such as being one of the masterminds behind the killing of broadcaster Percy Lapid.

Bantag maintained that all the allegations against him were just fabricated, according to a report on Unang Balita on Wednesday.

“Patunayan nila. Mga gawa-gawa at imbento lang [ang] mga akusasyon nila laban sa akin,” he said.

(They have to prove it. The accusations against me are just made up.)

Bantag was also linked to the death of Jun Villamor, the inmate who allegedly acted as the middleman in the plot to kill Lapid. He was suspended in light of this issue.

Bantag is currently facing two complaints for murder. Meanwhile, former BuCor Senior Superintendent Ricardo Zulueta and several PDLs linked to the deaths of Lapid and Villamor are also facing murder complaints.

Lapid was shot dead in Las Piñas City on October 3 while Villamor died at the New Bilibid Prison.

An autopsy by forensic pathologist Dr. Raquel Fortun showed the remains of Villamor to have a “history of asphyxia by plastic bag suffocation.” —KG, GMA Integrated News
