DOH: Firecracker-related injuries hit 211
The number of firecracker-related injuries recorded during the New Year celebration has increased to over 200, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
According to Nico Waje’s report on “State of the Nation” on Monday, the latest DOH data showed revelry-related injuries are now at 211.
The Philippine National Police (PNP), meanwhile, said three cases of indiscriminate firing were monitored in the country.
“Ito po ay naganap sa Iloilo City kung saan nahuli ‘yung nagpaputok pong ‘yun. Isa rin po sa Quezon City. Nahuli rin po ang nagpaputok at ang isa po ay sa Manila,” Police Colonel Redrico Maranan, PNP chief information officer, said.
(This happened in Iloilo City where we arrested those who fired shots. The other one was in Quezon City and in Manila.)
Maranan added the police confiscated around P200 million of illegal firecrackers and fireworks and arrested at least 40 persons involved in the use and selling of the products.—Sundy Locus/LDF, GMA Integrated News
