Abalos calls Teves' accusation 'preposterous'

Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos on Friday described as "preposterous" the accusation of Negros Oriental Representative Arnolfo Teves Jr. against him.

"I do not want to glorify that statement by answering it," Abalos said at a press briefing. "It is a preposterous accusation."

Abalos added: "I have never had that issue in my whole life. Sinabi ko nga 'yung pagkatao ko na lang yung mag-aano sa akin [I said my character would answer for me]. It is a preposterous accusation."

At a press conference on Thursday, Teves linked Abalos to alleged efforts to secure a search warrant on his residence and plant evidence if nothing illegal is found.

According to Teves, Abalos was making some personal attacks against him. He added that he is also being linked to illegal e-sabong or online cockfight game operations.

"Frustrated sila kasi ako pa rin ang pinagbibintangan nila sa e-sabong. Wala akong kinalaman sa e-sabong. Sinuyod na nila buong Region 7, walang nakita," the lawmaker said.
