PH logs 251 new COVID-19 cases on fifth day of fewer than 300


The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday registered 251 new COVID-19 cases, while the active tally dropped to 10,863.

This was the fifth straight day that there were fewer than 300 COVID-19 cases.

The active tally also went down to 10,863 from 11,031 on Wednesday.

The nationwide caseload reached 4,071,151, based on the DOH’s latest data.

The recovery tally climbed to 3,994,634, while the death toll also rose to 65,654 with 17 new fatalities.

The National Capital Region (NCR) recorded the most cases in the last two weeks with 1,626, followed by Calabarzon with 812, Central Luzon with 414, Cagayan Valley with 336, and Western Visayas with 279.

Meanwhile, the DOH said at least 5,227 beds were occupied while 21,752 were vacant as the bed occupancy remained at 19.4% as of Sunday, January 15.

The Health department added that at least 11,142 individuals were tested, while 332 testing laboratories submitted data as of Wednesday, January 18. —NB, GMA Integrated News
