Two cops linked to alleged kidnapping of e-sabong master agent surrender

Two policemen surrendered to authorities on Thursday after warrants of arrest were issued against them in connection with the alleged kidnapping of an e-sabong master agent.

The suspects, Police Patrolman Rigel Brosas and Police Staff Sergeant Daryl Paghangaan, surrendered to the Philippine National Police-Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP-IMEG) Team 4-A, PNP-IMEG Group Director Police Brigadier General Warren de Leon said on Saturday, according to Super Radyo dzBB reporter Mark Makalalad.

The two suspects, along with another police officer, are facing kidnapping, serious illegal detention, and robbery with violence charges in connection with the alleged kidnapping of e-sabong master agent Ricardo Lasco. Lasco was illegally arrested at his house in Laguna by the police officers who allegedly pretended to be members of the NBI.

The three suspects were dismissed from service due to the charges.

Brosas surrendered at around 2:45 p.m. while Paghangaan surrendered at 7:50 p.m., De Leon said.

They were the subjects of a warrant of arrest issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 29 Presiding Judge Luvida Padolina Roque in San Pablo City, Laguna on January 17.

Bail was set at P400,000 for each case of robbery with violence, but no bail was recommended for the kidnapping and serious illegal detention charges.

"After series of negotiations, our Team 4A have convinced these two former PNP personnel to surrender and already stop putting the image of the PNP in a bad light," De Leon said. —KG, GMA Integrated News
