Marcos' youngest son Vinny undergoes internship at Romualdez's office
William Vincent "Vinny" Marcos, the youngest son of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., is working as an intern at the House of Representatives, according to the office of Speaker Martin Romualdez on Monday.
A statement said Vinny Marcos has been working at the Office of the Speaker since Monday last week.
"Vinny will undergo training in the legislative processes," the statement said.
"He will be mentored on the daily grind at the House of Representatives, including the role and interaction of various committees and departments on the legislative processes, as well as strategies to help expedite the passage of vital bills and other measures for the benefit of the Filipino people."
The same statement also said Romualdez, who is Vinny's uncle, will supervise and oversee Vinny's training, a role he performed for another one of the President's son, Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos, during the 18th Congress.
Romualdez is President Marcos' cousin.
Sandro, 28, has been elected Ilocos Norte First District Representative in the May 2022 polls and now holds the position of House Senior Deputy Majority Leader.
Prior to the Speaker’s statement, Vinny was seen meeting the members of the House Minority bloc led by House Minority Leader Marcelino "Nonoy" Libanan.
Libanan, in a statement on Sunday, said Vinny has been designated as special assistant to the Speaker.
"The truth is, we were advised that Mr. Vincent 'Vinny' Marcos had been designated special assistant to the Speaker, and the Speaker merely asked us to brief the young man on the role and work of the House minority bloc," Libanan said.
"We must stress that even if the majority and minority blocs have differing views, we in the House can all agree to disagree without being disagreeable," he added. —Llanesca T. Panti/KBK, GMA Integrated
