PSA: Over 22M ePhilIDs issued so far

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has successfully issued over 22 million ePhilIDs or the electronic printable version of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) ID or national ID to registered Filipinos.

In a statement released Friday, the PSA said that as of February 14, 2023, the total ePhilID issued was already at 22,218,718.

The PSA, meanwhile, added that it also gradually rolled out a website through which a portable document format (PDF) copy of the ePhilID can be downloaded, providing registered persons with the convenience of an ID that can be stored on their mobile devices.

"Through this strategy, registered persons can now conveniently download their ePhilID on their mobile device and use it in transactions anytime," said PSA Undersecretary Dennis Mapa, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General.

"Just like the PhilID, the ePhilID holds the same functionality and validity whether printed on paper or as a PDF file,” said Mapa.

The PSA said registered persons who receive an SMS or text message sent by the statistics agency may download the ePhilID.

It can be scanned using PhilSys Check via verify.philsys.gov.ph, an identity authentication tool that cross-checks the data stored in the QR code against the data printed on the ePhilID.

Meanwhile, the PSA said it continues to closely work with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the Philippine Postal Corporation (Post Office) to expedite the printing and delivery of PhilIDs.

As of February 10, 2023, a total of 23,934,533 PhilIDs have already been delivered, it said. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
