Philippines posts 142 new COVID-19 cases


The Philippines registered 142 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, while the active tally increased to 9,343.
 
According to the Department of Health, the nationwide caseload is now 4,076,064, with active infections rising to 9,343 from 9,337 on Friday.
 
The National Capital Region had the highest number of new cases in the past two weeks with 419, followed by Davao Region with 238, Calabarzon with 173, Western Visayas with 94, and Soccsksargen with 74.
 
Seven fatalities were added to the death toll, which is now 66,083, while the number of recoveries is 4,000,638.
 
As of Friday, the bed occupancy rate in the country was 17%, with 4,270 occupied and 20,893 vacant beds.
 
A total of 8,349 individuals were tested on Friday, and 328 testing laboratories submitted data. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
