Marcos declares April 21, 2023 a holiday for Eid’l Fitr

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has declared April 21, 2023 as a regular holiday in observance of the Eid'l Fitr or the Feast of Ramadhan.

Through Proclamation No. 201, Marcos said the "entire Filipino nation should have the full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in peace and harmony in the observance and celebration of Eid'l Fitr."

Marcos added that it is necessary to declare April 21 as a regular holiday to "bring the religious and cultural significance of the Eid'l Fitr to the fore of national consciousness."

One of the most important occasions in Islam, and known as the festival of the breaking of the fast, Eid’l Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
