VP Sara to K-12 graduates: Choose a course you are happy about

Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte advised K–12 graduates on Thursday to choose a field of study in college they will be happy to pursue.

In her speech during the moving up ceremony and commencement exercises at the Montessori de San Juan, Duterte told Grade 12 students to proceed to higher education as it will ensure the realization of their dream professions.

“Make sure that you choose a course or a field that you are happy about,” she said.

For Grade 6 graduates, the Department of Education chief reminded them to have fun while pursuing academic excellence.

“As you enter high school, you should be champions in two things: One, you should be champions in having fun. Pangalawa [Second], you should be champions in making sure that you are doing good in school. Matuto kayong maging masaya habang kayo ay pumapasok at nag-aaral [learn to be happy while you study],” Duterte said.

She also told the graduates not to forget the people whose sacrifices contributed to their success, including their parents, teachers, and friends. —Giselle Ombay/VBL, GMA Integrated News
