PNP implements reshuffle of key positions

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Benjamin Acorda Jr. has ordered a revamp of some key positions in the police organization effective Monday, PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Farado confirmed on Tuesday.

Chief of the directorial staff Police Lieutenant General Michael John Dubria is the new deputy chief for operations, replacing Police Major General Jonnel Estomo.

Estomo is now the director of the Directorate for Plans, replacing Police Major General Bernard Banac.

Banac took the post as the chief of the Directorate for Information and Communications Technology Management, which was left by Police Major General Valeriano de Leon who retired on May 7.

Police Major General Emmanuel Peralta, who was a former chief of the Directorate for Operations, now serves as the directorial staff, replacing Dubria.

Police Regional Office 6 chief Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco will replace Peralta as the new head of the Directorate for Operations.

During a flag ceremony at Camp Crame on Monday, Acorda said “promotions, assignments, and designations will be based on merit, ability, and moral ascendancy, thereby placing the right people on the right job.”

“I have tasked the Senior Officer Placement and Promotions Board members to conduct proper deliberations to ensure that their recommendations are fair, objective and acceptable to all,” he said. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
