Five days before a scheduled airspace shutdown in the country, several airlines issued their advisories on cancellations and delayed flights.

According to a “24 Oras” report, six AirAsia flights were canceled on May 17, while the departure time of eight flights was adjusted.

Philippine Airlines said it would strive to maintain normal flight schedules, while Cebu Pacific announced that it would not have any flights.

Meanwhile, the Airline Operators Council said that no delays or cancellations were expected among departing and arriving international flights.

The Philippines' airspace would be closed for two hours on May 17 to allow for the replacement of the airspace management system's uninterruptible power supply. — Sherylin Untalan/DVM, GMA Integrated News
