CA approves appointments of DSWD’s Gatchalian, 50 AFP officials

The Commission on Appointments on Tuesday confirmed the appointment of Rex Gatchalian as the secretary of the Department of Social Worker and Development (DSWD).

This, after the CA committee on labor, social welfare, and migrant workers endorsed the approval of Gatchalian’s ad interim appointment.

The CA approval came three months after President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. named the then Valenzuela City representative as DSWD chief.

Gatchalian was appointed after his predecessor, former DSWD secretary Erwin Tulfo, failed to secure CA’s approval due to the issues on his citizenship and libel conviction.
