Actress Ria Atayde has been recommended as the new spokesperson for the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, MMDA Chairperson Romando Artes said on Friday.
“I personally recruited Miss Ria Atayde, who graciously agreed,” Artes said in a press conference.
“I submitted yung application and endorsement sa Malacanang for Miss Atayde to be the spokesperson ng (of the) MMDA,” he added.
Artes said Atayde's qualifications included her degree in Communication Arts, work experience, as well as her celebrity status, which could help with information dissemination.
Atty. Mel Carunungan was currently serving as the MMDA spokesperson in an officer-in-charge capacity.
“Meron kasing posisyon dito na [Assistant Secretary] level na spokesperson na previously held by Miss Celine Pialago,” Artes said.
