Sara Duterte, Gloria Arroyo have lunch after House change, VP quits party

Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on Friday posted on Facebook a picture with Vice President Sara Duterte.

According to the former President's post, it was taken after lunch businessman Manny V. Pangilinan hosted"for five birthday celebrants."

Sara on Friday morning announced her resignation from the Lakas-CMD, the party under which she ran for vice president in 2022.

The House of Representatives on Wednesday elected to replace Arroyo as senior deputy speaker.

On Thursday, she denied reports linking her to a plot to oust Speaker Martin Romualdez.

Romualdez and Arroyo are both stalwarts of the Lakas-CMD. Romualdez is its president; Arroyo, its chairperson emeritus. —Tina Panganiban-Perez/NB, GMA Integrated News
