DOH logs 1,855 new COVID-19 cases; active cases decrease to 16,002


The Department of Health on Sunday confirmed 1,855 new COVID-19 cases for the 25th straight day of more than 1,000 new daily cases, and bringing the Philippines' total cases to 4,139,295.

In its daily COVID-19 tracker, the DOH also registered 16,002 active cases, down from Saturday's 16,196. 

Total recoveries increased by 2,049 to 4,056,827, while total deaths remain at 66,466, the eighth straight day that no deaths have been added to the tally, according to GMA Integrated News Research.

The region with the most new COVID-19 cases in the last 14 days is the National Capital Region with 8,377, followed by Calabarzon with 5,425; Central Luzon with 2,283; Western Visayas with 1,645; and the Bicol Region with 954.

Among cities and provinces, Quezon City had the most new cases in the last 14 days with 1,935, followed by Cavite province with 1,803; Rizal province with 1,283; Laguna province with 1,192, and Bulacan province with 1,027.

COVID-19 bed occupancy is at 22.5% with 5,681 occupied and 19,528 vacant. Among the occupied beds, 2,499 are in the ICU. — BM, GMA Integrated News
