PNP looking into cops’ alleged fake accomplishments for promotion

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said it is looking into the report calling out the alleged fake accomplishments of cops that are being used for their promotion.

“I've heard the manifestation of our vice-chairman of National Police Commission and we will look into these allegations,” PNP chief Police General Benjamin Acorda Jr. said at a press briefing.

Acorda was referring to the findings of NAPOLCOM vice-chair Alberto Fernando.

Earlier, House Committee on Dangerous Drugs chairperson Surigao del Norte Representative Robert Ace Barbers expressed support for the findings of NAPOLCOM.

“Imagine, based on these fake accomplishments, the officers kept on being promoted until they are high up in the ladder and can control and influence the organization,” Barbers said in a statement.

“I wholly subscribe to the findings of the NAPOLCOM and I fully support their position. They can expect our full backing in the committee on dangerous drugs,” he added.

Acorda said the PNP is evaluating its policies on promotions and reward.

According to him, the PNP has good coordination with the NAPOLCOM in discussing “gaps” and “solutions.”

“As far as the PNP is concerned, we are constantly reviewing policies on promotions and rewards and kung ano po yung nakita ng ating vice-chair (whatever the vice chair saw),” Acorda said. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
