PH logs 1,279 new COVID-19 cases


The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday logged 1,279 new COVID-19 cases bringing the Philippines' total cases to 4,142,814.

This was an increase after two straight days of decreasing infections as active cases increased to 14,838 from 14,742 on Tuesday.

The Health Department said the country’s recovery tally increased to 4,061,510 while the death toll remained at 66,466.

Among the regions with the highest number of new cases in the past two weeks were the National Capital Region with 7,686, followed by Calabarzon with 5,053, Central Luzon with 2,376, Western Visayas with 1,652, and Bicol Region with 889.

Among cities and provinces, Quezon City had the most new cases in the last 14 days with 1,826, followed by Cavite with 1,676; Rizal with 1,142; Laguna with 1,130; and Bulacan with 1,036.

COVID-19 bed occupancy is at 22.2% with 5,694 occupied and 19,838 vacant.

A total of 8,493 individuals were tested, and 385 testing laboratories submitted data on Tuesday. —Sherylin Untalan/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
