Marcos: Singapore a 'very strong partner' of Philippines
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. received on Thursday the credentials of Singapore's new ambassador to the Philippines, Constance See Sin Yuan.
During the ceremony at Malacañang Palace, Yuan mentioned her plans to explore new areas of bilateral cooperation between the two countries and expressed her intention to focus on sustainability and energy, among others.
She also emphasized Singapore’s commitment to promoting peace and prosperity in the region amid global challenges.
"Our future in this region depends on our response to these opportunities and challenges together. We are confident that under your leadership, the Philippines and Singapore will continue their close cooperation and our bilateral relations will continue to flourish," Yuan said.
Marcos, meanwhile, acknowledged the strong bilateral relations between the Philippines and Singapore. He mentioned the significance of deepening the bilateral partnerships between the two countries during the period of transition in the global economy.
"As we go through this transition period where we have to adjust to the new global economy, we still look at Singapore [as] our very strong partner," Marcos said.
Yuan was accorded arrival honors and signed the guestbook at Malacañang Palace. She was also scheduled to lay a wreath at the monument in honor of Dr. Jose Rizal at Rizal Park. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
