Marcos on second SONA: I'll tell the people we made significant progress

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Monday said he would present to Filipinos the progress the country has made under his leadership.

In an ambush interview, the President was asked what the public could expect in his second State of the Nation Address.

“It's really very simple. It's just a performance report for Filipinos to see sa dami ng mga pronouncements, sa dami ng mga salita, kung ito ba ay talagang may kabuluhan, salita lamang,” Marcos said.

(It's just a performance report for Filipinos to see if the many pronouncements and words said were relevant or were just mere words.)

“We'll see. That's what I want to explain to people, that we have made significant progress. We can see the difference now, not only in terms of how the systems work, how the government works, it is also how we are seen or judged in the international community. That's equally important,” he added.

Marcos said he does not know what to wear yet as “we’ve been worried about writing the speech.”

The President further said he would present to the people if there are developments on what he had discussed in his SONA last year.

“Ang gagawin kong SONA, the state of the nation, is a report to the people. Ipapakita natin, I would like to show ito 'yung pinag-usapan natin last year, ito na ngayon ang nagawa natin, ito pa ‘yung kulang na gagawin namin, ito ‘yung plano,” Marcos said.

(My SONA is a report to the people. We will show the things we discussed last year, this is what we have accomplished, and these are the things we still need to do.)

Marcos is set to have his second SONA on July 24.

Earlier, he expressed confidence that he has something to show to the public when he delivers his second SONA. —KG, GMA Integrated News
